Delta Gage and Gear

Description

DELTA GAGE AND GEAR (2010)
Livonia, Michigan

An adaptive reuse of an abandoned newspaper plant and offices into a 70,000sf, high-tech gear production and testing facility for the aircraft and automotive industry. The printing plant was removed and replaced with a new precast concrete structure that blends with the office portion of the building. The existing interior floor in most of the building was lowered by three feet to provide the additional headroom required for the new facility. The renovated project includes the following:

  • Daylight harvesting using over 100 skylights coordinated with the building’s lighting control sensors.
  • Separated cooling system capability for critical temperature/ humidity areas, designed to shut down when not in use.
  • Separately programmable thermostats to permit reduced HVAC system usage.
